Today was your first day! I can't believe that I'm not there. It was stiflingly hot today. Oophta it was hot. It was definitely too hot to be spending time outside but with no AC in the house it was bad all around.
Back to fishing, I would love it if someone would email me telling me how today went and if you're extended or not and all that jazz. Missing you especially today. Woof,

Good morning, Jacks (at least it's morning for me). Missed you on opening day, but as it turned out you didn't miss that much, at least if much is determined by amount of fish caught. Brooke was here for the day with his son, Erik who as a kick to have around and who cost me a buck cause he suckered me into making a bluff long jump bet. I never heard a total for the day, but I doubt we got much more than a couple thousand pounds. Few fish, lots of sharks. Weather and tides however were great: Small tides, easy to work, no mudding, super calm, baby-bottom seas. Rip came in strong, broke #1 running line, but Kevin, Ty, Brooke and co got that back working pretty quickly. One odd fact is that I've never seen the water so clear, even on the beach nets. It was almost like the water in Homer, could have scuba dived in it and even seen what you were doing--Strange!
